How to Choose the Best Hair Straightener for Your Hair

By

Before Using an Hair Straightener

Using a hair straightener is one of the most if not the most effective way to straightening your hair. You have to remember that you follow a couple important tips before you start straightening your hair.

1.) Make Sure Your Hair is Clean

2.) Use Heat Protectant

You don't want to damage your hair so make sure you always make sure your hair is clean before using a hair straightener and don't forget the heat protectant. Hair straighteners get reach extreme temperatures and you don't want that on unprotected hair.

Choosing The Right Hair Straightener

Cost: Don't underspend when purchasing a hair straightener. You should never buy one for under $100. I don't know of even one good straightener that costs that little. You also want to remember you don't have to spend $300 on one either. You can get a good straightener for around $130 to $160. It might not get you one of the Best Hair Straighteners, but it will get you a very good one.

Quality: You must look for high quality and ONLY HIGH QUALITY. This is your hair we're talking about. The plates heat up to hundreds of degrees and you don't want a low quality product doing the job. That's where ceramic plates come in. Get a hair straightener that uses Ceramic Plates. Anything else can cause heat damage to your hair.

Also another good indicator of a high quality straightener is that it's LIGHTWEIGHT. You should make sure you get one that weights around 1 pound. If you find one that weights less than that it's not a bad thing either.

Size: Find one that's the right fit for your hair. A person with "average" hair should do well with a 1" to 1.25" hair straightener. A person with longer and thicker hair might do well with a little wider one at 1.50".

Brand: You would do best to go with a brand that has known for making good products. Sedu and GHD are known for being the top of the line in the hair straightener industry. That's not to say a brand like Joico doesn't produce good straighteners but the wide consensus is to stick with the brands and products that are "highly rated". They'll last longer and will be more worth the money in the long run.

Where to Find the Best Hair Straighteners
